Networks for Training and Development, Inc. . . . dedicated to promoting inclusive communities through quality training, consultation, & practice . . . Continuing the Vision! While we are small in numbers, Networks is large in its voice, impact, and reputation. We at Networks are dedicated to continuing the vision of our co-founder, Michael McAllister, Ph.D., that communities are for all people. Our mission is to help everyone build more tolerant, respectful, and inclusive communities by offering seven areas of expertise to individuals, small groups, and organizations. Employment Support The very roots of Networks are based on a belief that ‘work’ is a right and a possibility for all people. This belief has given birth to many activities and projects including training, transition and career development, creative assessment of individual situations, organizational development, collaborative and innovative services, and large scale systemic planning to further the belief and availability of employment for all! Technologies for Independence & Control Since our inception as an organization, Networks has been committed to assisting all people to voice their preferences, choices, hopes, and dreams. Over the years this commitment has also led us to learn better ways of listening to one another and familiarize ourselves with what’s possible through Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Assistive Technology (AT). Our growing belief that ‘Everyone Communicates!’ has led us in many wonderful directions -- innovative training and mentorship projects; direct work with hundreds of individuals of all ages; collaborations with businesses, schools, and groups; and witness to incredible stories of discovery where people increase not just their voice but the power, control, and true independence that ‘technology’ and understanding can bring! Organizational & Systems Development Networks is a 501C3 Charitable non-profit organization but we actively study, practice, and disseminate information on current trends from our ‘business world’ colleagues as well as from the ‘not for profit’ world. While we are best known for our primary activities assisting people with disabilities to live inclusive and fulfilling lives, we have also become recognized for our somewhat different approach to organizational structure and infrastructure, management practices, leadership development, and day-to-day operations. Several decades of learning and doing within this purposefully unusual organization affords us the ability to assist others to discover their own leadership styles, devise new ways of management, and help any organization be more conscientious as well as profitable! Personal Planning One of our earliest ares of expertise, Personal Planning (now often referred to as Life Coaching) has been the basis and foundation of all we do here at Networks. Believing that the person themself knows best (regardless of their life situation), we have provided countless people the support to speak up, dream, and make life choices while also helping supporters see the importance of listening, understanding the deeper meaning of dreams, and supporting true empowerment. We offer direct assistance to anyone interested in thinking through and planning next steps in life: training from basic information to highly customized opportunities; mentoring; and systemic consultation. Wholistic Practices Through the years, we at Networks have grown and added on many new initiatives that further our mission - ‘building inclusive communities’ - through principle staff pursuing new areas of personal interest. For many of us, massage, exercise, and energywork help balance our lives. Yet many feel they can’t partake because of disability or life situation. Through the interest of a few within the Networks’ family, a new venture has been born offering various types of body and energy work to people with disabilities, the chronically ill, and their supporters forging new relationships with other practitioners looking for ways to give back and assist others and leading to a new opportunity to bring fun and increased wellness to those most in need. Inclusive Educational & Transition Supports Networks is dedicated to promoting inclusive communities beginning with our youngest community members. Over the years we have worked in partnership with children, their families, and schools to develop individualized strategies and supports that promote inclusive environments and enrich the educational experiences of all. Whether it is educating teachers at universities, assisting individual students, helping schools examine their approaches, facilitating Transition Planning workshops, or helping develop home-based curricular programs... we are here to help! Event Planning & Coordination Networks is well known for its large scale and innovative events with an established track record as experts in development, coordination, advertising, and record-keeping of conferences, training sessions, retreats, and more. We also offer these same services to other organizations and groups, working in partnership to fulfill your goals and achieve your outcomes. Specifically, Networks provides: coordination of consultants, customized marketing materials, online registration, and evaluation and feedback. Hosting events doesn’t have to be difficult... let our experience help yours!
